Chocolate + Naoto Fukasawa = Genius.

With Easter round the corner I’ve been thinking about chocolate (a lot) And last week I set a friend of mine an Easter themed challenge … ‘I bet you can’t find me an Easter egg as big as my head’. Quite clever on my part really, bit of a win win. Not only do I get to aid my friend (who is almost completely driven by success) ‘win’, I am absolutely guaranteed an enormous chocolate egg. Brilliant.

Anyway, the chocolate talk reminded me of this awesome book I borrowed (sort of stole) about a chocolate exhibition directed by Naoto Fukasawa….

Held at the great Issey Miyake foundation 21_21. The exhibition, aptly named ‘Chocolate’, showcased some seriously beautiful creations from some seriously creative individuals. Naoto Fukasawa was the director (all hail) and wanted to show a “perspective of the world through the medium of chocolate” … erm, I’m not quite sure about that. But the book DOES  totally rock. It’s called ‘01 Chocolate’ and was published by 21_21 Design Sight in 2007. It’s simply 97 pages of amazing, beautiful, edible creations that make you want to, erm, eat them…. Check the Gallery for cool exhibitions and a refreshingly inclusive ethos on design.
